Last look at Julie Hinkel Orlando from Mentor Ohio, Stella's Art Gallery's Artist of the Week.

Textured painting of the insect world! -Well, at least two of our beautiful buggy creatures. I love how Julie brings textures into her work. This is perfect for the person that likes to "touch" art work.

Many of you may not know this but I am an art therapist. Sometimes my training helps me to see art differently and this is one of those times. I truly believe that art can have an effect on all our senses. When I look at these paintings all my senses come alive. My sight becomes zeroed in on the image and I begin to listen to what it is saying. When I see these two bug images I can hear the wings flapping. My sense of smell and taste brings me to summer months and fond memories come floating back into my mind. As I gently touch the textures of the painting I imagine what the soft wings would feel like and feel at peace.

Imagine if you lost just one of your senses, especially sight. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a piece of art work that would stimulate the other senses to then bring the lost sense alive again? Amazing Julie! Thank You!

Stella's Art Gallery Artist of the Week, Julie Hinkel Orlando from Mentor, Ohio

Today's look at Julie Hinkel Orlando's Art! WHO WANTS A PORTRAIT OF YOUR PETS? She can recreate your story. What a fabulous idea...Read what she did for a friend:

This is a painting I did for a friend. Molly is the little white dog, if you could see her face she’d be snarling at Farley; Farley is the black dog with his tennis ball right next to him. Rusty is the brown dog with his ear flopped over as it often does. And Lola is the little beagle dog, waiting to see a squirrel. This is a way to get all your pets in one picture! Want different scenery? Send me a picture and I will see what I can do for you at  StellasArts@gmail.com.  ~Julie

Stella's Art Gallery's Artist of the Week, Julie Orlando from Mentor, Ohio.

Acrylic ArtistJulie Orlando - Artist Julie Orlando - Acrylic Artist
Told by a high school art teacher that her art “wasn’t good enough,” Julie figured she just wasn't meant to be an artist.  So she   pursued a career in science, becoming a veterinarian for large animals. She loved working with the animals on the farm, but she knew that as her family grew she would want to be at home with her kids. Now she teaches college level biological sciences. By chance she came across local art classes and felt a calling to pick up the paint brush again. Julie says painting is like therapy. The stress of life, kids, and job all float away when she begins painting or sketching.  Julie’s art is inspired by the nature around her- Lake Erie, the vegetables and flowers she grows, her animals, and her love of science and comparative anatomy. She enjoys painting with acrylics and drawing with charcoal, pastels, and colored pencils.

Stella's Art Gallery's next Artist of the Week is Giovanni Bocchieri

PictureGiovanni E. Bocchieri - Artist Giovanni E. Bocchieri- Alchemy Arthttp://www.intheshadowofleonardo.com/
A fine artist skilled in the use of mixed media, Giovanni E Bocchieri Jr. received his M.A. in Drawing and Painting at Pittsburg State University in 1976. While in Wiesbaden, Germany in the late 70s, he studied "Old Master" techniques under Master Artist Adolph Hertzfeld. He also took classes in graphic design and ceramics at the Cleveland Institute of Art (Cleveland, Ohio) 1981-1982. His art has been exhibited both in the United States and Germany and has received a number of awards and special recognitions. In addition, he has been a college instructor, graphics department head, and book and magazine illustrator.

The artwork presented by Giovanni exhibits unconventional and striking images rendered with ornamental detail. The use of contrasting textures and patterns as well as vivid color imagery allows the viewer an ever-changing aesthetic exploration. His extensive travels in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Caribbean have given him exposure to diverse styles of art which have significantly influenced his own approach to drawing and painting. The transformation of overlooked object of nature into things of beauty fuels the name of his latest collection: Nature's Alchemy.
